Shine ON! is an exciting programme of activity set to hit Basildon this winter time. Running from November 23 through until January 24, Basildon borough is set to come alive with creative pop-ups, interactive workshops, family activities, community events, and everything in between. We will be shining a light on the creativity in Basildon during the dark winter months.
All workshops are free via Eventbrite and provided by local artists from all disciplines!
In January, we will be banishing those winter blues by flooding our town with colour and positivity whilst showcasing fantastic art by talented artists through chalk window displays. Commissions currently live.
Shine ON! Hub- Free Workshops For All!
As part of our Shine ON! programme, we are taking over the empty British Heart Foundation building above QD to provide a free programme of activities for all ages. This creative Shine ON! Hub will display work from local artists, and bring the community together in a safe, warm space over the winter months.

Shine ON! Basildon- Saturday 16th December 2023
Basildon Town Centre will be coming alive with this light-night inspired event.
Our large marquee by the Fountain will be the perfect place to relax, hand make some arts & crafts from local artists- such as tree decorations and portrait scribbling, while listening to live music. Come visit our Shine ON! Hub for free facepainting. Enjoy performers such as the Electroglide Angels and LED stilt walkers, and circus performers from Infinity Circus. Then take a photo with our giant interactive sensory spheres. This unique audio-visual art installation takes shape in 7 large blue audible spheres that can be seen, felt and heard!
Shine ON! Laindon- Saturday 9th December 2023
Join us in Laindon Library on Saturday 9th December from 11-3. This day of family fun will have balloon makers, and free Arts & Crafts to get us in the Christmas spirit.
We also have a brilliant Circus workshop coming to us from Infinity Circus.

Hi I’m Terri Timms a local artist, I’ve worked on community projects for other 30 years causing mayhem and fun. Come and join us on the 16 Dec to create a lasting piece of artwork to be displayed where everyone can admire it.
My name is Michael Young and I’m an Essex based Illustrator and Artist. Ever since I was a kid I have been putting marks on paper and could always be found, pencil in hand, scribbling the world around me.
I am a female artist with 7+ years in the creative field. Often lecturing at universities as well as creating custom commissions for local and international businesses.
I am a part time teacher, full time mum of three and lover of all things painty and sparkly, so started Party Paints in 2015 to indulge my passion
